Recently, my family & I had the opportunity to review Python Printables’ Independence Day Games. They were delivered via email direct from the company. There is a wide variety of games to download with this package. I will say upfront that because we are Christians, we did not download nor play the beer games.
We printed out several others. For the review, my husband & two of our 3 sons played the one titled, ‘Independence Day Trivia’. There were 15 questions & an answer sheet is included- thankfully. On first impression, my sons were disappointed that the questions were as difficult as they were. They are 15 & 9. My 15 year old admitted he should have known some of the answers, but didn’t. My 9 year old hasn’t covered the material in the game in school yet, so he had a really hard time, too. My husband felt it had too much of a ‘test-taking’ feel to it. I am a history buff, so I didn’t mind that it was challenging, but it’s no fun to play all alone.
The best one of the bunch in our opinion is the mad lib. Who doesn’t get a kick out of those? There were a lot of ways these games could’ve been done to make it a little easier for the kids. However, at this time, it is our opinion that these are best suited to preteens.
I don’t see my kids giving up outdoor Independence Day activities in order to stay inside & play paper games. Perhaps on a rainy day or better yet, a snowy day, these would come in handy. Honestly, I would use them in conjunction with homeschooling activities related to US History.
My other issue with this pack is the pricing. At $19.95, I had to shake my head. For our family, that is a lot to spend. I understand the company’s perspective. For your money, you get unlimited access to the games to download and print over & over again. Plus, you get 20 different games to choose. However, I’d rather invest the money in gasoline to drive my kids to the park or purchase an outdoor game where they’re going to get exercise. I have a hard enough time keeping them active & away from the Playstation. In this computer age, I just feel this will have a hard time keeping the kids motivated to continue playing, especially if they don’t know the answers.
Our families may have a different experience than ours did. It is our opinion after having received it. As always, I encourage folks to try & see for themselves. It just wasn’t a product that is right for us.
The people at Python are great & their website is easy to navigate. They’ve even offered one DMO3 reader their own package! Follow the Rafflecopter directions!
We received one Independence Day Game Package for free in the hopes that we’d write a review. I was under no obligation to write a positive review. No other compensation was received. This promotion was provided by www.tomoson.com. I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
