Book Review: 'God Is More Than Enough' by Tony Evans

Psalm 23 is one of the most beloved messages in The Bible & one of the most often recited. It's read at funerals & memorized by children. In 'God Is More Than Enough', Tony Evans dissects the chapter line by line. He discusses a more intimate meaning of the word 'shepherd' & includes a laugh-out-loud funny comparision of humans versus sheep.
Many books & articles have been written about Psalm 23; however, the breakdown Evans uses is quite unique. He includes explainations of David's word choice & verb tense. It could easy fill class time in a small group semester. It's limited page number detracts nothing from the content. All David's psalms (or songs) are lovely worship to God. But, this psalm is perhaps the most delicate from a heart's perspective. If you'd like to get a feel for where David's heart, mind, & soul were at the time of writing 23, do a little Biblical research. It'll help you to understand how deeply he meant each word. Tony Evan's understood David's mindset. That's evident. To help us utilize the same mindset for our issues, he presents parts of the psalm we should get in tune with. Who is our Shepherd? Are we prepared to be like sheep? Characteristics of a shepherd in God's point of view are listed using other Old Testament Scripture.
Whether you're reading Psalm 23 for the first time or the thousandth, there are guanteed viewpoints in this book that you haven't considered. Especially if you are a newer Christian, this book should be on your 'must read' list. Hopefully, Tony Evans will continjue his writing by dissecting more Scriptures line by line. I'm lead to give 5 of 5 stars for exceptional writing, blessed discernment, & God-given talent. More info is available from publisher www.waterbrookmultnomah.com and it's for sale on Amazon. I received one ebook to write my review. No other compensation was provided.
