It's Ok To Not Be Extreme
When you watch TLC or read couponing sites, are you feeling like an epic failure?
Sometimes it makes me fell like I'm not sitting at the cool kids' table. But, after speaking to some other moms here & there, I've come to the conclusion that it is ok to NOT be extreme.
If you can pull it off, Kudos. It is awe-inspiring to watch these folks in action. However, I've also seen a mom cry at the checkout when she was told her coupon binder was 'pathetic'. Why should anyone feel bad about saving $50? At any glance, hey, it's $50!
While I do have alot of extras, I do it for winter & because we live rurally. I keep alot of soup & canned goods. I do use my coupons, check my ads, & utilize sales. I will not beat myself up over it. We're satiated eith feeding out family of 5 on roughly $300 per month. I think that's pretty good.
I rejoice at any savings. If I score a freebie-sweet! We'll continue to get our newspapers, print out, be thrifty & ask God to help us to be good stewards.
There's nothing wrong with friends sharing tips, taking classes, etc. At the point where it's all-consuming & you have 90 jars of pickled eggs, maybe it's time to re-evaluate. Until then, be kind to non-extremists. We're doing our best.
