'SIMPLY JESUS' BOOK REVIEW
SIMPLY JESUS BY DR. JOSEPH M. STOWELL If asked, who would you say the most important relationship in your life is with? The answer should be: Simply Jesus. Dr. Joseph M. Stowell’s newest book is titled just that: ‘Simply Jesus’. Dr. Stowell delves into the intricacies of having an actual relationship with Jesus as you would with your earthly family & friends. Relationships have to be cultivated in order to grow & our Christian walk is no different. He encourages Christians to step out of cookie cutter Christianity to draw near Our Savior. Utilizing New Testament quotes & references, Dr. Stowell examines how to make sure our faith is more personal than academic. He mentions a powerful comparison between Billy Graham & Chuck Templeton which I hadn’t heard before & it is amazing & eye-opening. Steps are clearly outlined as to dusting off the shelves of our hearts to make room for more pertinent spiritual matters & provided Christ with a clean dwelling place. This book would be an excellent resource for newer Christians. Although it contains information that many seasoned Christians are probably well-versed in, the material is invaluable & could never be too often repeated. A Sunday School Class could easily incorporate it into their curriculum. None of it is too over the top, controversial or preachy. It is direct & a beautiful reminder of our Savior’s love. It scores 4 out of 5 stars. It’s a good read & resource, but without a “wow” factor. I received 1 ebook for review purposes. No other compensation was provided.
