This month’s
grocery trip was as wacky as it always is. For the first time, the night
before, I actually slept. But, I was also made aware by my cold windshield that
winter is coming soon. EEK! That’s alright- I’m prepared.
The usual cast of characters were
working at Giant Eagle. I love those folks. Extreme Couponers had cleared the
freezer of ToTino’s pizza rolls. I was devastated because I had a load of
coupons for them as they were 10 for $10. Fortunately, my favorite cashier
wrote me a rain check. Hooray!
Nothing seemed too out of the
ordinary at Wal-Mart. That is, until I left the store. Surrounding a truck
parked directly in front of mine, in an almost empty lot, stood 5 policemen.
Oh, no. What now? I opened my door, said hello, & put my items inside. All
the while, watching out of the corner of my eye, they took notes about the
truck. I tried really hard not to be nosey. I couldn’t help it!
As I put my cart back, I noticed
that there were 5 additional police cars parked at the entrance of Wal-Mart. A
police cruiser pulled up next to me. He explained that there was a man inside
who was in the electronics department. He had stolen hundreds of dollars’ worth
of stuff. He had hit stores all over the area. While they searched his truck,
they found receipts for small items like gum from all over. An employee had
called to say he was back. He was a runner, they said.
I thanked the officer for the info
& hurriedly left. Thank God I hadn’t been late this time. I thanked God for
His protection, too. You just never know what you’ll find in the world when you
go shopping at 4AM!
I did discover the new Special K
breakfast sandwiches at Wal-Mart. I hadn’t even heard of them. But, they’re
yummy and 240 calories a piece. I was disappointed that they didn’t have any
new Glade products for fall. I have some free product coupons & want to use
them. But, they don’t seem to be anywhere.
I ended up
using 48.15 in coupons. I was pretty happy with that. There just never seems to
be more food than month. I hate running so low that we’re eating PB sandwiches
or plain pancakes for dinner.
