My kids often complain about having the same old snacks.
Trying to explain the in's & outs of nutrition makes their eyes glaze over.
So, when Smart Foods asked if we wanted to try & review their newest
snacks, I jumped on it.
I tried them first then urged the
boys to, for the sake of the review-wink, wink. I’d already had the Garlic
Tomato Basil Hummus Popped Chips. My mouth was happy. They are extraordinary.
My initial reaction to the word hummus was concern; I’ve yet to meet someone
who loves hummus for its taste. But, the garlic & tomato mix was the taste
I received.
The second bag was a delicious Feta
chip. Feta is a fantastic cheese so I was biased towards that bag. The chips
have a nice crisp without being greasy.
However, the snack that reigned supreme
was the Cinnamon Brown Sugar Popcorn. Cinnamon is definitely the smell you
receive when you open the bag. Speaking of the bag, it’s recloseable - Hooray!
The youngest described the popcorn as a cinnamon burst of taste. True. Our
oldest said it has a taste similar to caramel corn. Actually, I agree a bit
with that.
Popcorn itself isn’t new to Smart
Foods. They’ve made white cheddar cheese for 25 years.
Let’s talk nutrition. No MSG or artificial
nonsense. It’s kosher & has no saturated fats. Both the snack size bags sit
pretty at 100 calories. Also, the expiration date is boldly & clearly printed
on the bag. No decoding combinations to figure out the age. My only word of
caution to you is that the chips contain milk & wheat & the popcorn has
milk ingredients, too.
The popcorn is a good source of
whole grains. With colder weather accompanied by nights spent inside, you can
feel better about the snacking that your family is doing. Good-for-you foods
are easier to integrate when they taste great. Nothing cramps a diet’s style
more than feeling deprived. You know a snack is good when the kids are
rummaging through the kitchen looking for more. Even better is when your
husband requests more!
I received
the 3 aforementioned bags from www.bzzagent.com
to do the review. No other compensation was received.
