Adovia Mud Mask Review

Recently, I was blessed to review a Pure Dead Sea Mud Mask from Adovia.

It's been quite some time since I had used any mud mask. When you have 3 sons, you can forget to be a girl. But who doesn't love pampering?
Right away, I liked that it contains not just the Dead Sea Mud, but also Aloe Vera & Vitamin C. I was interested when reading the box (which contains a FABULOUS & informative paragraph on the mask), that it also boosts skin renewal and removes impurities.
The mask has no real scent & is a dark gray when it leaves the tube.
The directions said to apply a light layer, which is exactly what I did. I wish it showed up a tad better on the picture. But, I will liken it to applying sunscreen.
I left it on for 20 minutes per the directions which said to allow it 10-20 minutes.
I cannot tell you how many impurities (an embarassing amount, actually) that were pulled out of my skin! It really did suprise me considering I use a well-known skin care line. But, wow! I am definitely impressed with the results from the mask.
I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone. Even if you think you're skin is in good condition, give this a go. It will surprise you, too!

More information can be found here and if you have questions, the company can also be reached here.

Comments

At least once a week, you’re going to come across something you don’t like. Maybe at home, work, school, etc. Or maybe you’re going to read something you don’t agree with at all. At what point do we get so angry that we explode on our keyboards? Do we take time to re-read the article? Do we ask someone close by to read it & get their take on it?
I’ve heard many people say, count to ten before you get angry. Give yourself a time out. If we are reading an article or blog piece, then chances are that we are adults.
Have you ever read comments on a blog? I mean, really read them? People can be really nasty. Is there anything wrong with disagreeing on an article about, say spanking? Absolutely, not. You can articulate your opinion in a simple format. Simply explain why you disagree. Is it truly necessary to call names, cuss, or insult?
I also truly cannot fathom why people go to a blog that is written by someone who believes the complete opposite of everything they do. For example, if you do not believe in homeschooling, why would you frequent a blog about it? They don’t usually do giveaways- so that’s out. Usually they have articles pertaining to homeschooling! But, I have seen people rip a blogger to shreds over her viewpoints on a topic. Not once but three or more times, after having adamantly admitted they don’t believe as she does.
Wouldn’t it be easier to just not read it? It’s the same as turning the channel on a show you hate. Would you continue to email or call NBC and demand they no longer show a sitcom and expect them to change it for you? Of course, they wouldn’t. They would show what they’ve always done, because it is what NBC believes in. Tearing someone down for writing from their heart about their passions is straight wrong.
If you feel so strongly in the opposing direction, why not start your own page? You have every right to voice your opinions, too-just don’t do it at the expense of someone else or their livelihood.
It’s different if you are a regular reader of a blog you love & he or she makes a statement that is blatantly incorrect. At that time, locate the email button or message them-not publicly- on Facebook. Tell them their info is incorrect. Maybe they misquoted someone. Just let them know you read their blog regularly & just wanted them to know the right info. Nothing wrong with that, they may even thank you.
But, to leave a comment for the whole world to see, correcting spelling, grammar, etc. is just rude. Message them. Humans make mistakes.
I’m not saying every comment has to be positive. But it is better to leave no comment than to leave one that’s demeaning.

Chapter One

Really, Julia, do hurry,” Jane Crawford said to her daughter still seated at the ivory lace covered vanity. “The guests are arriving and you should be there to greet them.”

Julia Crawford smiled up at her mother with resignation. This was a battle she did not need to win. She would make no argument.

“I’ll be down shortly, mother. Jolene and Jennifer are there. Our guests are here to see them, not me. Has Jillian gone down?”

“She is standing with your father at the door,” her mother replied.

“I’ll be down in a moment, then. Do go down to the guests. You know how father fusses when you leave him alone,” Julia said as she spun a blonde curl around her finger.

Her mother glided to the door and closed it softly. Julia cocked her ear, waiting for the soft patter of her mother’s slippers on the steps. Only then did she pull the gold chain from her neck and insert the key that hung from it in a gilded jewel box. With a final glance at her bedroom door, Julia pulled a white envelope from the case and unfolded the letter it held.

Dear Miss Crawford,

I will be at the train station to meet you on the appointed day. My mother and I look forward to your arrival. I will stay above my shop until the day of our marriage. My mother has graciously allowed you to stay with her during that time. She is pleased to know you do needlepoint. Her arthritic hands no longer allow her to sew and she is most anxious to have another woman about. I am anxious as well . . .

Julia read to the last line even though she could have recited the letter as if it were the Lord’s Prayer. Very truly, Mr. Jacob Snelling. The day would arrive for her to depart sooner than she both hoped and dreaded. Mr. Snelling was a successful shop owner, near fifty years old, with an aging mother in a small South Dakota town. He had never married. His mother had begun to complain of a lack of company and he admitted he was lonely. Those two forces had led him to place an ad for a wife in the Boston Globe nearly a year ago. And to Julia’s shock she had answered it. Their correspondence had been proper, more formal than she had expected from a merchant in the Midwest.

That formality had been a great comfort to her. It was what she was accustomed to. And he sounded like a truly nice man. He had great regard for his mother, of that Julia was certain. His letters were filled with news of the aging Portentia Snelling and that always brought comfort to Julia when she was most terrified of what she was embarking on. A man so devoted to his own mother would certainly be kind to her. Julia rose from the vanity seat with a smile on her face. One more formal evening with her family could not deter her now.

Julia was not sure of the sentiment only a few minutes later. She greeted a few guests and found an unoccupied chair in the corner of the library. She had spent much of the day arranging the fresh flowers that now filled the room. It had kept her mind and hands occupied while her sisters fussed over their wardrobe and their mother had scolded the servants over some small matter. Without distractions, the day would have dragged and she would have dwelled on a decision her mind had yet to grasp. Julia gazed absently about the room.

Her older sister, Jolene, married now ten years with a beautiful, fair child, sashayed about on the arm of her husband, Turner Crenshaw. Julia’s younger sister, Jennifer, nearly twenty-one, sat amidst a bevy of Boston’s first sons, laughing sweetly and tilting her head just so. It was most certainly the sin of envy that would lead her straight to Hades in the afterlife.

Julia felt no jealousy though as her eyes found Jillian. The baby of the family. Jillian would spend the first hour of the party with the adults and then be whisked away to her rooms. Only ten years old and already beautiful enough to turn male heads. Dressed in navy velvet with a cream-colored lace collar to match her hair, Julia was certain Jillian was the fairest of the Crawford family. Even at her young age she was a model of deportment and graciousness with a gay laugh and shining blonde hair. Julia would miss her most of all.

The Crawford women were all tall and slender except Julia. She was no higher than her father’s tiepin at fourteen and still exactly the same height at twenty-seven. Julia snatched three shrimp from the young serving girl’s tray as she passed and laid them beside four chocolate bon-bons in the napkin on her lap. Julia preferred to refer to herself as pleasingly plump. Or on the days before her monthly courses as a fat, frothy, ugly spinster with perfectly beautiful siblings and parents.

Hana Lani R&G by Saralee

This Review & Giveaway is done by SaraLee's DealsSteals & Giveaways

Book Description:

Only opening their hearts will keep them from plunging into the dark
abyss. Old Nani-lei lives in Hana-lani, her family home in rural Hawaii.
She looks after her grandson Henry, 52, and his daughter Lucy, 6, who
have returned to Maui from Berkeley after the death of Maria, Henry's
wife. Henry and Maria, both professors, had been working on A History
of Ethics, and now the grieving Henry struggles to finish it. City girl
Meredith Campbell, 36, fast-paced, self-centered, and beautiful,
believes her body will ensure her happiness. After losing her job and
finding her lover unfaithful, she flies to Maui, sure he will
follow...but her plane crashes near Hana-lani. As their worlds collide
in a natural world both beautiful and dangerous, Henry will be forced to
act on his words, and Meredith will come face-to-face with her own life
choices. A poignant journey that unravels T.S. Eliot's "permanent
questions"- what is goodness, truth, and love? By the author of the
thought-provoking trilogy Pilgrimage, Offerings, and Inheritance.

About the Author:

Christine Thomas Sunderland (1947-), the daughter of a Presbyterian
pastor, grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and came of age in the
tumultuous Vietnam war years. Her inspirational novels, set in the
present day, reflect the larger questions of our world today: What is
civilization? Why is our past important? How do we understand where we
are going? She is also fascinated with the interaction of matter and
spirit. Her trilogy explores the legacy of Western European culture:
Pilgrimage (OakTara, 2007), tells of a mother's search for healing of
body and soul in Italy; Offerings (OakTara, 2009) tells of a redemptive
journey through France (Bronze Medal winner in the Independent Publisher
Book Awards 2010); Inheritance (OakTara 2009) tells of a life-saving
trip through England. A fourth novel, Hana-lani (OakTara 2010), set in
Hana, Maui, is a love story about the role of family in American
culture. She is currently working on a mystery about Mary Magdalene set
in Rome and Provence.

Christine is Vice-President of the
American Church Union, the publishing house of the Anglican Province of
Christ the King. She has written numerous publications for children,
including the Jeanette Series, novellas set in France and San Francisco,
8+, and has edited the Anglican Confirmation Manual and The American
Church Union Church School Series (http://www.Anglicanpck.org). She
lives in Northern California with her husband and two incredible cats.

My Take on the book:

I love reading books like these because they remind me of a Life Time movie. I got into the plot of the story and kept wanting to read more so I could get to good part lol I personally could relate to the characters in the story because my husband & I are two different people and a flat tire brought us together. This will be a good read for anyone who reads it.

Bee All Natural R&G from Saralee!

This Review & Giveaway is done by SaraLee's Deals
Steals & Giveaways

About Bee All Natural:

Bee All Natural was founded in 2009 when I couldn't find the quality skincare
products I was searching for.  Tired of buying "natural" products that were
petroleum based and filled with perfumes, I set-out to develop my own skincare
that would be safe for every member of my family.

The daughter of an
organic dairy farmer. I
already believed in the connection between diet and health.  I wanted the
products I chose for my family's skincare to reflect the same quality and
goodness as those that I chose for their nutrition.

Working
independently, I researched, tested and developed each of my products from start
to completion.  The ingredients are certified organic and are all "food grade"
quality.  I make each product from scratch and never use pre-made bases.
Packaging each batch myself, I even design and print my own labels and carry
each order to the post office or retail location!

I am proud of Bee All
Natural and stand behind my products 100%.  I won't sell a product that I don't
use and believe in myself.  If I can't make a product great, I just won't make
it.

A Michigan native, I am a regular at the Royal Oak farmer's market
where I sell dairy products at my father's booth.  I live in Shelby Twp.,
Michigan with my husband Dave, son Trevor and step-daughter Isabel.

The first item I tried was the Clarifying Mud Mask and I love it. The mud was very easy to put on and didn't smell at all. A little does go a long way. My husband did tease me when I had this on my face and said it looked liked the paint he puts on his face when he goes deer hunting lol My face felt so refreshed after using this.

The second item I was the Intense Hand & Foot Salve and this works. I have dry cracked heals and I have been using this for almost 2 weeks now and I can see and feel the difference in my heels. Now this doesn't smell the greatest but I love how a little goes a long way. My heels look great.

Now for the giveaway: One lucky
person will win a Bee All Natural Product. This is
open to the US & Canada only and ends 7/09 @ 11:59 pm est. To enter,
simply do

Weight Loss- Week 1

Well, after making my decision to start this, I invested a half hour of exercise each day. I monitored what I was eating. I made sure I ate breakfast. I didn't eat after 8 Pm which is a big thing considering our family of mega-snackers. I weighed in at my mom's on Saturday. Tada: 3.4 lbs. lost. Not mammoth. Not Biggest Loser results, but I suppose it's something. I suppose I had delusions of  10-20 lbs. I don't know where I came up with that, but I have no choice but to take the 3.4
I'm praying I didn't undo my efforts when the hubs brought home pizza Friday night. I also cannot exercise on the weekends with everyone home. So, I will begin again tomorrow morning & try hard to exercise past that 30 minute mark.

To be continued....

Mommyandwelikeit.com Presents: Chrysalis R&G

Original Review by Mommy and We

Chrysalis YA romance

I recently read "Chrysalis" by Michele Prince. While it is a YA Paranormal Romance, it is definitely not for the younger YA crowd. You wouldn't want your 12-14 year old daughter reading it. While there's no actual intercourse, there's LOTS of sexual overtones. Having said that, I would've loved it when I was in high school as much as I do now.

Ellie could've been me in school with her poor self image. When she fell for Oscar, it reminded me of when I fell for my husband in high school. (There was even one person who flat asked him why me. Can you imagine??) Though Ellie and Oscar's relationship is bi-racial and he is the football star, there were so many parallels with our relationship!

I LOVE when I can put myself into a book. Chrysalis is well written and Michele knew exactly how to bring me in and make me keep reading. Definitely add it to your "To-Read" list this summer.

Overview:

In the annals of dysfunctional families, the Chisholm’s are working their way to the top. Drug abuse, an unwed mother with multiple fathers, and the questionable cash flow for the 'pretty one'. All this from a seemingly normal, two parent middle class family. But were the choices truly made of their free will?

Bad choices are a Chisholm family trait, one that confounds the youngest child, Ellie, who's trying to separate herself by making smart decisions. And falling for Oscar Jeffreys, the hottest guy at school, would be number one on the list of Chisholm family disasters. Yet the crazy part is it’s not a one sided attraction. Somehow Ellie has caught Oscar Jeffreys’ eye. Sure she could see the barriers between them. Race, age, popularity. They were at opposite ends of the spectrum. But a demon set to destroy her family? She can't see that.

Oscar provides security and acceptance Ellie never imagined she deserved. As the passion of first love grows, Ellie honestly believes she has a chance to beat the odds and live a happy, normal life. Then her world collapses around her. With the help of a guardian angel, Ellie learns of a world that has unknowingly surrounded her for years. And she'll have to find strength buried deep inside to save not only her future, but flush out and stop the demon in her midst.

And Ellie will have to learn that sometimes the hardest lesson about growing up is accepting that you're worth more.

Buy it: Get it on Nook or Buy it on Amazon: Paperback or Kindle

Win it: Enter to win a signed copy of Chrysalis or one of two gift cards. Simply fill out the easy Rafflecopter form below!

My Hikes Pants Cuffs Fasteners R & G

This Review/Giveaway is done by Kathy's Freebies & Savings

Have you ever had pants that fit right but are just to long? I have this problem alot. I'm short so my pants are usually to long. I've also got two kids and sometimes there pants are two long as well. I'm so happy to have had the chance to review the My Hikes pant cuff fasteners.

My kids pants are often to long as well as my own. The past few days it's been raining around where I live. My kids have been wanting to go outside lately, but it's been so rainy. I hate when they have to go outside when it's rainy because of there pants getting all wet. This is where the My Hikes pant cuff fasteners really come in handy. I clipped them to my daughters pants and they won't get all wet from the rain. I love it! I'm sure we all know how it feels to have the bottom of our pants wet from being outside in the rain. I always have to take my kids pants off and give them a new pair when they get wet at the bottom.

The cuff fasteners are fashionable as well. They come in many different designs. I had the chance to review the butterfly cuff fasteners. They are beautiful and my kids love them!

Do you love these cuff fasteners as much as I do? Well, they have offered to have a giveaway for one of my readers. Just enter in the rafflecopter below.

Ergonomic Pen Review & Giveaway

Recently, I received a 3 pack of Ergonomic pens from UgleePen. When you hear the name, Uglee, you assume, that they're well, ugly. I think they're cute, actually. The 3 I received are pink & black.
What sets these pens apart from regular pens is the deisgn & the comfort. They're surrounded by a comfort grip that is oh so cushy. It doesn't rub your finger while your writing or put any pressure on the finger either.
But the most important question is: how does it write? The answer: like a dream. The ink was a nice, dark blue & flowed very well. No shaking required!
It is obvious that Dr. Lee, the pen's creator, put alot of effort into his design. These pens will spoil you for all others!
Not only did I enjoy them, my kids did too. Now they want to swipe them for school.

Ugleepen.com wants to bless one DMO3 reader with a 3 pack, too. Enter via the Rafflecopter Below. But, if you win, you may want to hide them for yourself! Visit www.ugleepen.com for more info on Dr. Lee & his design.

I was sent (1) 3 pack of pens for review purposes. I was under no obligation to post a positive review. No other compensation was provided.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

CeliAct Giveaway from Donna's Deals & More

CeliAct complements the gluten free diet to provide a complete nutritional solution for people with celiac disease. CeliAct provides your body with nutrients and compounds to lower the complications that people with celiac disease suffer from the most.

Simply implementing a gluten free diet is not enough for people with Celiac,  There have been a number of  studies that show those of us with Celiac have a significantly higher need for vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients.

CeliAct

Review done by DonnasDealsAndMore

I had the opportunity to try both the CeliAct and the Fish Oil.

There are 5 components to CeliAct.

  • Digestive Enzyme Support
  • Multivitamin/Multimineral Complex
  • Intestinal Healing Blend
  • Probiotic Defense Complex
  • Bone Building Formula

Normally when I take my vitamins I get a stomach ache. I had started taking them at night so I could sleep through it. I have been taking CeliAct 3x a day and have had no issues with stomach aches. In fact, I don't feel bloated and "bleh" at all. I have completely removed all glutens from my diet and had no idea that taking a supplement made especially for those of us with CeliAct could have such a positive impact on me. I've also been taking the Fish Oil. My only complaint would be "fish burps". Thankfully it only happens with in the first few hours after taking it.

CeliAct also has an amazing newsletter. It is not spammy at all. I love the information they provide. They have interesting and educational articles that are pertinent to me.

You can purchase CeliAct HERE and if you use coupon code DONNASCELIACT at checkout, you'll save 25%!

CeliAct is giving one lucky reader a prize pack of CeliAct and CeliAct Fish Oil {$57 value}

*Open to US and Canada, must be 18 years or older

*Disclosure: I received no compensation for this publication. My opinions are my own and may differ from those of your own. Devoted Mommy of 3 is not responsible for sponsor prize shipment.

'The Strangers Outside' Book Review & Giveaway

Photobucket
Short stories can be a lot of fun to read. Vanessa Morgan’s ‘The Strangers Outside’ is no exception.

Two sisters, Louise & Jennifer, are vacationing together. Innocent enough, right? Wrong. As they proceed to their quaint cabin, they soon discover things are not on the up and up. Stealthy assailants have made themselves known to the girls. When instinct kicks in, will the sisters be able to outsmart this band of mysterious figures or die trying?

Vanessa Morgan has created a tale of frightening mystery that I honestly read straight through. The only fault I could find was that it wasn’t long enough! There’s something you won’t hear often in a book review! But, I loved it. The characters were fantastic & I had no idea where the author was going with the plot until the end. ‘The Strangers Outside’ is everything a short story should be from start to finish.

A scary good 5 of 5 stars for this one!

You can see for yourself with a giveaway from Vanessa Morgan & Charisma Media! See the Rafflecopter below.

Dollar Days Is Giving Back

I recently traded emails with Marc from Dollar Days. His company is giving away $5000 in products this month to non-profit organizations. They need our help though! Go to this Facebook Page:
http://www.facebook.com/DollarDays/app_403359706360567
to nominate the Non-Profit you feel deserves the prize. They can't win if we don't nominate them!

Lilla Rose Giveaway!!!!!!

The Flexiclip is a popular product from Lilla Rose. It is a multi-purpose hair accessory that works for any hair type. Yes, you read that right. ANY hair type! Amazing. That's something you don't hear everyday. Usually it's only long, preferrably thick hair that's needed to hold any type of accessory. It comes in tons of different sizes & designs. All of them are stunning pieces.

Just look at these beautiful designs! They're just a few examples of the lovely & feminine items from Lilla Rose.

The styling & sizing video will help you find just the right one for you!

As you see, you can put your hair up while cooking or doing housework & still
have an incredible style. Super easy to use! As if that wasn't enough, you can have a real person assisting you with orders & general questions. I know I personally am tired of automated message systems & auto-responders.
